Incarcerated deejay Vybz Kartel has denied allegations of being beaten behind bars.

According to the self-proclaimed world boss, the entertainer is in high spirits and is focused on the journey set before him courtesy of local authorities.

Kartel says he has received continued support from his parents and his common-law wife and babymother during his tribulation; however, he remains disappointed with some of his former musical associates.

“Despite being denied bail recently, and being betrayed by Popcaan and Tommy Lee whilst going through the darkest hour of my existence, I am unparalleled in my determination to remain positive. I do a lot of reading and writing and usually try to exercise.” he said.

His book, The Voice of The Jamaican Ghetto co-authored by Michael Dawson of People’s Telecom fame, received favourable feedback in places like Germany, Switzerland, Japan, Bulgaria, Chile and Amsterdam, and recently spiralled a debate from literature enthusiasts about whether it should be included in the CXC syllabus.

As a recording artiste, Vybz Kartel remains current and relevant in the dancehall genre, receiving the Artiste of the Year awards for both Youth View and Portmore Awards, respectively.

Kartel has been in custody since September 2011.

He and his co-accused are to return to the Home Circuit Court on May 27 when it is expected that their trial will begin.

The artiste and accomplices are alleged to have murdered Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams at Vybz Kartel’s home in Havendale, St Andrew, on August 16, 2011.

Dancehall artist Popcaan recently delivered a smashing performance for his Canadian fans in Toronto, at Luxy nightclub.

Since the start of the new year, the young entertainer has seen great success and has no intentions of easing up, says PR.

Despite allegations that Popcaan and his former boss, Vybz Kartel are in dispute, the RavinG King shouts out:

“Big up Vybz kartel, mi daddy!”

Earlier this year while Snoop Lion (formerly named Snoop Dogg) was in Jamaica producing his new album and filming his Rastafarian/reggae-themed documentary titled “Reincarnated,” the rapper and dancehall artiste Popcaan took some time to puff some of Jamaica’s finest strain of THC (better known as high grade marijuana).

In the images, you can see Popcaan puffing on his typical big head spliff, while Snoop eyes take us all the way to North Korea.

Its just too obvious, both artistes were blazing high.

The chances of seeing a second reggae album from Snoop Lion (formerly Snoop Dogg) seem slim after the rapper-turned-reggae star revealed his is unsure of his next career move. Share on Facebook

Snoop Lion told NME that he may never do another reggae album in Jamaica, due to issues with Bunny Wailer and members of the Rastafarian Millennium Council, who accused the rap icon of exploiting Rastafarian culture for profits.

“I definitely feel like I’m gonna make more music but I don’t know if I’m gonna go to Jamaica, I may wanna go somewhere else. I may wanna venture into another part of the world. Some things you let them be what they are. That was a priceless moment. I may wanna do something different next time.”

“I’m just saying I don’t know if I want to repeat the same process as far as going to Jamaica and making a reggae album. I may wanna go to another country and make a reggae album. I may wanna make a rap album. I don’t know.”

In addition, words in the street is that there is a deeper reason for Snoop Lion turning his back on Jamaica, the island that changed his life forever.

According to UrbanIslandz.com, an anonymous source at the Rastafarian Millennium Council in Jamaica exclusively told the celebrity gossip website that some unknown Rastafarians have been sending death threats to the rapper.

“Am not surprise Snoop don’t want to come back to Jamaica because I heard from good source that he has been getting death threats from rastas,” the source said, requesting anonymity.

“Rastafarian is about peace, love and unity, so these Rastas who are sending these threats are not members of the council,” the source added.

“Yes there were some issues with Snoop and the Council but we don’t address issues with violence, we love Snoop and we welcome him with open arms,” the source continues.”

Despite this allegation, Snoop says he will continue to spread the Rastafarian message of peace and love.

However, the rap legend, turn reggae star, has not returned to Jamaica since then.

Snoop Lion was in Jamaica in February to shoot the video for “Lighters Up,” a collaborative single featuring Dancehall artists Mavado and Popcaan who will appear on the rapper’s upcoming album “Reincarnated,” due in stores on April 23.

In the song, Popcaan reveals his promiscuous desires for the girls deemed to be reckless and wild.

This is the raw version to the song, hence, not recommended to be played around minors.

With the recent release of Popcaan’s latest single called “Killa From Mi Born” produced by Milla 9, persons have begun speculating that a section of the song is a subliminal diss to fast-rising star Chronixx.

During the introduction of his song, Popcaan deejays:

“Not nice last time mi check ‘Courage’ mean brave/Yow miller chu some … hear man seh di party buck dem tink seh we party nuff / Not even Selassie or Jesus cyah save dem when di … 40 buss / Bwoy drop pon di grung and cyah git up….”

The streets are alleging that this is a retaliation at Chronixx due, in part, to utterances he made in the now popular “Odd Ras” song with the lines:

“mi nah sing bout nuh party buck and mi nuh show mi underpants fi buss.”

When contacted, Chronixx’s manager Zion told media reporters that while they have not heard Popcaan’s latest song, and “Odd Ras” was not aimed at the artiste.

“It was not aimed at anybody, it was just a general concern. Chronixx is not trying to tell anybody how to live their lives, it’s just his opinion and it was not aimed at anybody,” said Zion.

In the track, Popcaan also takes a lyrical shot at his nemesis Black Ryno.

The two were involved in a physical altercation at the 2012 staging of Sting, which resulted in Ryno being pushed off stage and allegedly charged by police.
